My first Wildflower was amazing! I had no idea it would be this much fun... And to think that back in February I couldn’t even do a push up. Had never even swam or biked before. But thanks to the instructors at Club One (Erica, Jen and Jim), and their pools, and my training partner Brian, I am so grateful I was able to do it! And I can’t wait to do it again. Guess Widflower *does* change your life after all...
2013 San Francisco Marathon
I completed my 5th marathon in my 2nd best time ever! I've had some pretty bad knee and hip issues and with the help of some weight training and my love of Club One, I'm more inspired than ever to keep up my love of running. It had been almost 3 years since my last race, so I was more than pleased with my 3:57 finish time, especially given the intensity of this race!
2013 Western All Forces Bodybuilding Championships
I trained in my first bodybuilding competition in June in the Bikini division. I trained for over three months with Monica Tatsumi, personal trainer at Club One Fitness. I followed a strict eating regimen, weight lifting program and cardio program over the 12 week period. Over those weeks I pushed myself both mentally and physically and gave it my all. While I did not place in a class of over 30 competitors, I was extremely pleased of how far I've come. I am currently training for another competition for next summer and I can’t wait to bring a stronger package to the stage!
Pan American Racquetball Championships
I’m proud to be a Club One General Manager and part of the Chilean National Team! I competed on the professional tour from 2004-2011, and I have placed 2nd in the world 4 times in 2004 & 2006 in singles; and 2008 & 2012 in doubles. In March of 2013, I won the bronze medal in doubles.

This was my second time competing with Team Club One in Tough Mudder. In this photo I am doing the rings obstacle, and I was the only female on our team to make it across without falling in! I couldn’t have done it without my Team Member’s advice and cheers… and as you can plainly see, I’m totally kicking that other guy’s butt!
Memorial Day Ride
Who would've thought riding a bike 250 miles over three days could be fun? With the help of Club One instructors, classes and a few other team members of Club One, we successfully completed this ride with a smile and some great stories to tell. Many thanks to instructor Erica (pictured) for her constant motivation and support - all the hard work paid off!
Waves to Wine
I raised $500 for charity to cycle in the Waves to Wine event – it was my first century ride and one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. What I thought was impossible became possible that day. Now, we do group rides every Sunday! Cycling with friends makes me both healthy and happy.
Country Music Half Marathon
Perseverance mixed in with a bit of Irish stubbornness? Maybe! But with all that happened in Boston (where I grew up) and all the training I'd been doing leading up to this day I could not let disastrous weather predictions (which were accurate) cause me to NOT finish this race.
The highlight of this event was running alongside Glen, a Club One member! It’s a great payoff to work with members at the club and then be there to see them reach their goals at the finish line.
Wildflower was my first triathlon and will always be my "home" course, if there is such a thing in tri. It's challenging to see if I can improve year over year, and exciting to return each year. Because it's not a convenient place to get to or stay at (camping!), everyone who is there is committed to the experience and the enthusiasm of the athletes and spectators alike is wonderful.
Tiberon Bike Ride
One of my favorite spots for road bike riding is over the Golden Gate Bridge to Tiberon and back to San Francisco. It's a great training ride for my next bike event with Club One!
AIDS Lifecycle 2013
This was my 8th time riding in the AIDS Lifecycle, but it's the very first time I have ridden every inch of the 7 day 545 mile ride down the beautiful coast of California. The ride raised a record breaking $14.2 million and I personally raised over $7500. What was the different for me this year was the incorporation of my new gym membership at the Club One at Oakland City Center, and the work of Francis and his Club Circuit program 2x a week and Giselle's spinning class up to 4x a week before the ride. I started working with Francis in April and taking Spinning classes shortly after. These two workouts plus weekend training rides made all the difference in me being strong on the road and more importantly recovering quickly at night and stretching in the morning. Exercise is supposed to get harder when you're older and I'm turning 50 next month. I feel fantastic. Thanks Club One.
Hiking Half Dome
I hiked Half Dome with four other people which included my brother and my son. We started from Glacier Point and hiked a total of 20 miles. My son hiked arm in arm with me the last two miles to help me finish. The hike was an accomplishment, the views were beautiful, but I must say the time with my son is priceless.

I had so much fun running with my colleagues and cheering each other on at the finish line! Just like in the club, it’s so much easier to stay motivated with a team behind you.
Tour de Marin
This was my longest and most challenging ride to date with 4 flat tires along the way! It’s a good thing I had the support of Club One on my back to keep me going! This event is a 400-mile ride through scenic Marin to help expand Marin's bicycle network of safe bike lanes, pathways, bridges, tunnels and trails.
Memorial Day Bike Ride
I thank Club One for the closest friends that I have in San Francisco. They always inspire me to set new fitness goals and accomplishments - like riding 135 miles from King City to San Luis Obsipo in one day! Cycling for 12 hours together is takes friendship to a new level!
Giants Race 2013
Being a Giants fan I used the Giants 2013 race as a goal to just get out and run! I was never much of a runner but I needed to change my lifestyle. Every day I would do my weight training then hit the treadmill or the local track. Race day came up pretty quick, and this being my first race was a bit intimidating! But after everything was done I realized just how much fun it was and now I'm hooked. Club One is such a great place to train and it helps keep me focus on goals. Now to find the next race!
Tough Mudder is one of the toughest challenges I've ever participated in, and Club One instructors made sure I was ready. My Club One team mates encouraged me and made sure I got through every obstacle - so hard but so fun! #bestteamever
American Diabetes Association’s East Bay Step Out Walk
It was really inspiring to see our members and the community joining together to support the American Diabetes Association. Just like we tell our members, change starts with one step.
Wildflower is inspiration - accomplishing new goals and watching others making their dreams come true. And you can't forget - Wildflower is a party, with bacon, beer, and naked, spirited college kids reminding you to have fun!
2012 Giant Race
Running has always been a passion of mine and this race, among others, has helped me to reach my fitness goals one step at a time. What began as a simple hobby has transformed into a lifestyle and I now work to help individuals reach their own fitness goals through personal training.
I spend most of my days training, inspiring, coaching, motivating, and pushing people to become a better version of themselves. Yet in the middle of June on a blistering hot day in the middle of nowhere (Patterson, CA) my team of 13 strong Club One members inspired me at mile 11 of the Tough Mudder Race. The team pushed themselves through treacherous obstacles and steep hill climbs for the previous 2 hours. One team member's legs started cramping from dehydration so we stopped as a team to stretch. As everyone was rolling through a series of leg and hip stretches I took a step back to admire the camaraderie, teamwork and intense effort all 13 team members put forth. We powered through the rest of the race and crossed the finish line with linked arms leaving no man or woman behind. The teamwork I witnessed that day reminded me of why I truly love working in the fitness industry. I just hope that my passion for health and fitness can continue to inspire those around me.
SF Runs for Boston
It was really inspiring to join together with 400 people in San Francisco for this early-morning run, knowing that thousands of people across the country were doing the same to support Boston and empower our running communities coast-to-coast.
Sea Otter Classic Bike Event
Sea Otter Classic is one of my favorite bike events – for road biking and mountain biking. The routes and expo are awesome, but my favorite part is riding with my Club One friends.
2012 Giant Race
I loved seeing so many Club One members at this event. It’s such a great reminder that we’re not just training for fitness in the club- we’re training for life!
For my first 5K I wanted to run with friends and have paint thrown in my face. What a blast and I was able to run the entire event. Next on the list... 10K or maybe even a half marathon.
Project Marrow Zumba Master Class
My cousin first introduced me to Zumba, and I’ve been taking classes since then. Together with my mom, sister and my cousin who is now an instructor, we danced the afternoon away for a good cause.
This was my first Tough Mudder. It was one of the hardest and most rewarding experiences of my life. My team motivated, inspired and helped each other to finish.

Representing Club One, I participated in the 'Tough Mudder' event last year in Patterson, California. With a course that consisted of over 10 miles of running, 90+ degree heat, and numerous obstacles, it proved to be one of the most epic single day competitions I'd ever been a part of. But together with my team, there was nothing we couldn't handle - I will never forget the positivity and camaraderie that we all shared on that day. It just goes to show that with a little bit of training and support from the people around you, one can accomplish anything!
When I first thought about doing Wildflower it was because I heard the the Long Course run is one of the most difficult half marathons out there and I love a challenge. It lived up to its reputation but the best part about the race was knowing that two other great guys had just left everything out there on the course and it was my turn to do the same. Sharing the podium with them and celebrating as a team makes every training mile that much more special.
Finding fun ways to stay active that incorporate my kids is important to me. The Electric Race was a blast and the kids loved the free light show.

Top of Half Dome
On June 15, 2013, we started at 5:00am hiking from the trail head (Happy Isles, 4035ft) at Yosemite National Park and all the way going up about 4800ft elevation for 8.5 miles. About 1:35pm we are at the top of Half Dome (8842ft). We left the top of Half Dome at 2:15pm and made it back to ground level at 8:20pm. Thanks to our hiking group and group leader to help achieve this once in a lifetime trip with weekly training, having fun, and suffering pain put all together.
Surfer's Path Marathon
The last 5 miles of my marathon I kept hearing the words of my Club One Sports Conditioning instructor, Jonna: "When it hurts and you think you can't keep running, SMILE." Jonna's advice kept my head in the game and I ran those final miles with a goofy smile on my face... all the way to the finish!
