Building Fitness Through Pilates

At Club One, our comprehensive Pilates program includes challenging mat work classes, group Reformer classes, and customized one-on-one or semi-private personal training tailored to your needs and goals.

Whether you’re getting in shape, recovering from an injury, training for an athletic competition, or looking for a new physical challenge, we encourage you to try Pilates—a system dedicated to whole body health and wellness. Enjoy!

Designed to condition the entire body, Pilates promotes balanced musculature, flexibility, and agility.

Why Choose Pilates?

By combining stretching and strengthening, Pilates increases flexibility in the most effective way possible. Because the technique emphasizes fluid movements rather than short contractions, muscles become defined but not overdeveloped. Control, precision, and proper alignment are more important than the amount of resistance used or the number of repetitions. By emphasizing proper breathing techniques, movements are executed with maximum power and efficiency. Non-impact, low resistance, and gentle on the joints, Pilates helps you both avoid injury and rehabilitate from current injuries.

Joseph Pilates developed his exercise system to “attain and maintain a uniformly developed body and a sound mind.” Pilates is a holistic fitness program that integrates the following practices:
  • Mental concentration
  • Breathing
  • Controlled and precise movement
  • Balanced muscle development
  • Centering
  • Alignment
  • Fluid movement
  • Integrated movement
Whether you’re a beginning exerciser or an elite athlete, Pilates is an excellent mode of body conditioning and injury prevention. It can also be incorporated into physical therapy programs or rehabilitative exercise to speed recovery. Among its many benefits, Pilates:
  • Offers a rigorous, non-impact workout
  • Simultaneously stretches and strengthens the body
  • Enhances flexibility, agility, and range of motion
  • Tones and elongates muscles without bulk
  • Increases lung capacity and circulation
  • Improves balance, control, coordination, and posture
  • Prevents injury through strengthening the core muscles
  • Improves bone density
  • Enhances body awareness
